Education is not free in other parts of the world as it is in this blessed land we call America. We have provided over US$800,000 in hearing aids, scholarships, school supplies, teacher supplies and assistance for health matters to families and children. We have partnered with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to make hearing possible for over 250 children and adults in need.
We continue to provide children and teachers with materials and equipment to enhance the teaching\learning situation in elementary schools. We also prepare and recruit professional and highly qualified teachers for understaffed schools and low-income schools in the United States and the Caribbean.
We help children with serious medical conditions or terminal diseases to obtain better quality medical attention by bringing them to America for the necessary medical care. For the past 17 years, we have willed our lives to helping such families. We provide a place to stay when they are visiting doctors. We provide hearing aids when they cannot afford them. We also will to stand firmly against childhood diseases and malnutrition by promoting proper nutrition.
We have raised money to build Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb homes and are looking for sponsors to do more homes for families in need. Currently, we have set up a Committee and a Committee Chair for each area of need we satisfy: Child Education Needs, Schools Needs, Teachers Needs, Child Medical Needs, Child Shelter Needs, Fundraising. Each Committee is also responsible for its fundraising activities to meet its need while falling under the greater umbrella of the Board’s Fundraising Director.
Committee Chairpersons are volunteers and each has a Director assigned to oversee their performance of their activities to be sure that they follow all policy and procedures of the Corporation. Eligibility for all programs is determined by the Board. The Committee will carry out the activities under the Board’s guidelines and regulations. All Board members and Committee members will serve as volunteers and will not be paid.
